The service was messy. There were too many tables and too few waiters so it was difficult to get any of the waiter's attention. Besides, my friend and I had to place the same order for the buffet a few times before it came. And sometimes the wrong dishes were delivered. Cakes from Conditorei Kreutzkamm (visit their website at www.kreutzkamm.de) that was already established in 1825. The cafe that I visited in a shopping centre in Dresden (hmm I can't quite remember the name of it but it is near the main station) was tiny but opulent. It was crowded too. The cakes are quite expensive. I bought 3, each of which cost 2 euro.Nice cheap berry yoghurt (1.99 euro) from Leipzig Hauptbahnhof. So many times I passed by the shop and it was only on the few last days that I realized one of the rotating shopkeepers was uber cute!

The coffee shop was located in the hotel, just on the left side of the hotel main entrance, where I stayed during my weekend getaway to Malacca almost two weeks ago. As I reached the hotel during lunch time and I was too tired to walk out to find foods, I refueled myself with some snacks from this shop first. The cakes, cookies, and chocolates on display looked attractively colorful and yummy it was as if they came out of fairytale.

Marble Panna Cotta (RM3.87). Unlike any other panna cotta I have tried so far, this one didn't melt even though it was left at room temperature for an hour or so. Taste wise, it was good and worth having.
Mango Yogurt Cake (RM7.40) was refreshing with its balanced sweet and sour taste.
Limau Asam Boi (RM6 each) was alright.
Sausage Pizza (RM6.50) was not bad.

I suddenly craved for prawn dumplings when I was shopping at ION so when the dinner time came, I headed to Imperial Treasure Noodle & Congee House to satiate the craving. I also got a plate of Braise Beancurd with Mushroom and Vegetable in Oyster Sauce ($10) to share with my friend. It was good.

My Dumpling Noodles ($7.30) was a bit too salty, probably due to the sauce, so I added chili padi in attempt to neutralize the saltiness. It actually worked and I got the slightly spicy taste for my noodles, which I liked a lot.

As I could only make it on Saturday and brunch at this place is only available on Sunday, I got to opt for the lunch menu even though I was more interested in its brunch. I reached there at about 1pm and the place was so vacant. It was then that I realized people came here mostly to drink the various beers offered directly from its own brewery, around mid afternoon. Anyway, a friend and I opted for the set lunch, with me getting the 3 course ($28++)and her 2 course ($22++). We both chose Seafood Bisque Soup as appetizer but after one spoon or two, found it to be not of our taste. In fact, we were a bit repulsive to it and just asked to continue for the main course.
The waitress later came to inquiry us about the unfinished soup, if it was not good. We gave her other reason but she offered us mushroom soup as substitute.The complimentary tea that came with the set lunch
Hallibut Fillet (Pan-seared fish fillet, lemon and lime marmalade, bottom of pesto cream sauce), definition of which was taken directly from the menu, was good and rich.
RedDot Fish & Chips (Fish fillet coated with RedDot beer batter, served with fresh salad and homemade tartar sauce) was not bad either.
Whisky Chocolate Melt Cake was well recommended. You just have to try it.
The place was nicely decorated, gave out relaxing atmosphere, and vacant.

Fish & Co. at Clementi Mall is spacious and yet when I went there last Friday, there was long queue. It took me about half an hour to finally get a table. The place was lively and people were eating and chatting happily.

I like this restaurant, apart from the lack of lighting which made this place a bit dark. The foods were good and the price was decent. It is also located at Clementi which I passed by everyday on my way to and back from work/school.Thai Iced Tea was free of charge if you were a student. These macarons ($2 each, from 1 Caramel at Rochester Park) are one of the cases where look deceives. Half of these macarons had the texture like meringue, sugary hard and crispy. Not that I dislike meringue but when I buy macarons, I expect to get macarons, not meringue in the shape of macarons. For happy experience with macarons, I will just stick to Gourmet Carousel. Canele, Hediard, Java Detour are good too.

Gurney Drive or Persiaran Gurney is one of the places (others include Batu Ferringhi, Butterfly Farm, Queensbay Mall, Botanical Gardens) that my cousin always brings me to whenever I visit her in Penang. I like having my dinner there, usually after a tiring shopping at Gurney Plaza which is located quite near. Apart from kuay teow which was my favorite dish, my cousin normally would get pasembur too, to be shared with the whole family. She used to stay at apartment just opposite the shopping mall so when she was busy during daytime I would simply walk to the mall and spend the day away. The restaurant in this post, also named Gurney Drive, is located at Suntec City, here in Singapore.

Pizzeria Mozza on a Saturday Night

Reservation was required so my friend and I were lucky to be able to get our seats, albeit at the bar, in less than 30 minutes. The restaurant was packed with people, happy-looking people. It was not bad to be seated in front of the oven as we could observe the cooks preparing the ordered pizzas. It took about half an hour before ours were served.
Light snacks provided during the waitingMy friend and I were initially wondering if this was edible or mere decoration, but later when a cook adorned a plate with it, we knew it could be eaten. We didn't try any though.

The cook was checking the pizzas being baked. There could be about 8 to 10 pizzas in it. There was another oven just besides it, and further away some cooks were preparing the dough. It was always interesting to see the process of preparing a meal.

NYDC, Celebrate Life, Big City Style. Hmm. Don't quite get why it says so. I start to compare it with New York New York and Swensen's. They are somehow the same, generalized western foods involving pizza, pasta, burger, and sinful desserts of cakes and ice creams. Although it stands for New York Dessert Cafe, their entrées are not to be missed too.

Saturday Afternoon in The Beach

Cafe del Mar serves good food. The staff were attentive. Our glass of water was never empty. The only thing I think could be improved was the upholstery of the chair (I sat indoor), which was worn out to bits. When I stood up, some of them sticked to my pants and legs.
I very much liked my Seafood Minestrone though the real presentation was very different from the display picture with the latter looked much more palatable. I enjoyed the Marisco Paella too. It could actually be shared by two, given its enormous portion. I tried my friend's Baked Pacific Dory too and yummm, the sweet and savory flavor from the garlic butter was just perfect. According to my friend, the Clam Chowder was not bad too.

Everytime I passed this cafe and restaurant on my way to Orchard from Tanglin, I was intrigued by its secluded and expensive look. Its exterior and interior was dominated by red color, and I suspect it was it that exuded the atmosphere that I felt. I was delighted when I noticed big macarons in the display counter. I only saw macarons this big when I was in Europe. Here they cost slightly more expensive (S$6.83 as compared to €2-€3). Only three flavors were available today and I ordered one for each. Besides the cafe it was a shop selling a variety of Hediard products. There were jams, tea, and some other stuff.
Chocolate with Earl Grey
Some berry with pistachio and berry fillings. It was the best among the three.
Sea Salt Caramel. I liked it too and ranked the second.

My second attempt to have brunch here and this time I succeeded. The first time I went there with my friend, it was 1 pm. We didn't know that the place was so popular, with long queue and the waitress telling us that our waiting time was between 1.5 to 2 hours. We were pretty hungry already so we gave it up and went somewhere else to eat. Well, that somewhere else was actually Domani and I posted about the restaurant some time ago. Today my friend and I reached there at 10.30, hoping to avoid long queue. Not bad, the waiting period this time was between 30 and 45 minutes. We walked around Mandarin Gallery though sadly most of the shops were still closed where the cafe was located and exactly 45 minutes later, my phone rang. Our table was ready!
I ordered English ($22), which satisfied me both in taste and quantity, though the latter was a tad more than I could handle (I left behind the crunchy toast). The plate consisted of scrambled eggs, potatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, sausage, bacon, and toast.
My friend ordered S.O.B. ($18), basically salmon capped in buns. It seems to be a temporary item since it was not listed on the main menu.

Charlie Brown Cafe

I saw my first Charlie Brown Cafe when I was in Hong Kong a few months back. I was desperately seeking for something I would feel comfortable to eat for dinner, alone, as I boarded an earlier plane than my friend's and so I was on my own for a few hours after I landed at 8 pm that night. I passed this cafe which was located at Tsim Sha Tsui but since it was new to me and I wasn't sure if I could get anything from it, I passed it for Pizza Hut instead. I told my friend later about my excitement to find this cafe but too bad, til the last day we were there, we didn't make it to it. That time I didn't know there was also one in Singapore and was quite regretful. I like Charlie Brown cartoons, and the one that was etched in my heart since I was very young was 'Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don't Come Back!!).
Anyway so much so for the story; here was the picture of what I had when I visited the cafe today, Choc Lava Cake ($6.50). The cake was good and I would come back to try their other items.

I just went there last week but since I like the place, I chose it again for this week's brunch. Although all the tables were occupied by patrons when we reached the place, my friend and I was lucky as we got our table in 5 minutes. Indeed, the whole time we were there, the queue, if there was, was never too long.

House Works ($12). Basically the simpler version of what I had last week, Full Works, which had garlic mushroom as well as sausage.

My new toys. I am not really into beauty and skin care products actually. To prove, I only have one set of eyeshadows and blush powders which I was forced to buy for my convocation two years ago. And ever since, I never touched it again. I have just donated my nail polishes and nail polish remover to my sister because I reckoned they had been sitting in the cupboard unused for also two years. But I like shower gels and body scrubs and recently hair mask.
Last week when I went for my haircut, which was long overdued as it has been 4 months since the last time I had one (I normally go to saloon once every two months), I was told that my hair was dry. Though I was certain that it was because I just came back from two-hour walk under scorching sun, I nevertheless asked the stylist for any recommendation of products that I could use. So I ended up buying the hair mask (the first in the picture) which cost me $69.
The Face Shop was having 20% storewide discount and I happened to run out of body scrub so I bought two though I always feel that the beads are too small and the effect of scrubbing is less (White Lily U.P.$22.90, Sake U.P. $25.90).
When I went to Sephora last week, a friend of mine recommends me to try the creamy shower gel Clean on Me from Soap & Glory ($12). I indeed like it as the fragrance lingers long on my skin.

I haven't been to Takashimaya Shopping Centre for long so I have no idea of when this pretty shop opens. My friend and I were drawn to the shop when we saw what looked like macarons. When we got closer we found out that the tiny round-shaped delicacies were actually whoopies.

They were all in very mini portion and I have no idea whether this is what they usually serve or due to mini amount of money that we paid for. I should have checked their normal menu but I didn't. Though the serving size was a disappointment, the foods were good.
The drink was either coffee or tea. I chose the latter one, which came with milk.
The dessert
The main course: I chose dory fish. I can't recall the name of the dish. My friend chose back rib. I can't recall the exact name of the dish either. Additional $5 was charged for this main course.

Both my friend and I chose the same two starters: Wild Forest Mushroom Soup Served with Truffle Essence
and Chilled Angel Hair Pasta & Prawn Roe. In the menu card it was written that the dish would be served with crispy shrimp topping but I didn't find any.

Dessert Box ($21.90). More worth it than ordering the item separately. The warm chocolate cake was still one of the best I ever had and the sorbet was really good too. The waffles were tasteless and the macarons were not how they used to be, sadly.
Baked Shell Seafood ($16.90). The cheese was a bit dry but what lied beneath it was the real deal. Squid, prawn, imitation crab meat, cooked with pasta in broth. I like it.

Privé is just a walking distance from HarbourFront. I phoned the café in the morning before I set off to ask if it was too late for reservation since I actually didn't plan to go there and was told that walk-in was just fine. The place, located at Keppel Bay, exuded wealth and opulence feel which may as well be right since the bay was surrounded by private as well as chartered yachts. There were booths promoting things, one of which was from Lufthansa. I thought it was offering flight tickets so I took one of the booklets and it turned out that it was to hire private jet. Not my league, not in a thousand years at least. Anyway the brunch was alright. The airconditioning inside the cafe was too cold for me and my friends but we didn't sit outside either since the sun was scorching. We were told by the waiter that took our order that it would take 30 minutes for the meals to be served since the cafe was crowded. It was okay for us since we came here to idle away the afternoon and indeed 30 minutes passed quite fast.
